The Boundless Butterfly

The Boundless Butterfly

(A poem written to raise awareness for childhood mental health)

Come, tiptoe through my tangled mind
Where complexity stays
Through wildflower fields
And time-worn trees
You’ll hear my music play

I beckon you with open mind
To glimpse into my wildness
Where doubts and worries
Grace my days
And bedlam brings bewilderment

Imagination knows no bounds
And wonder often thrills me
My thirst for knowledge knows no heights
But chaos often kills me

Misunderstood and vilified
My heart withholds the memories
Of ignorance and edginess
As life became my enemy

I am a child misunderstood
A child of profound stories
A complicated treasury
A sea of endless worries

My mind skips through the meadows
Whilst the rain defeats your days
The butterflies and day-blind stars
Help chase my fears away

My fragile heart is full of love
Though I may never show it
My hand in yours
Your hand in mine
I hope one day, you’ll know it

I may appear unconscious
But inside, my soul shines bright
Come, follow me through wildflower fields
Where there, you’ll find my light
