~She Wore Autumn~

~She Wore Autumn~

She
Wore
Autumn
On her leaves
And claret crown,
Freeing loose her riches
To a cold and barren ground.
As
Brazen
Jackdaws
Soared the skies
And winds began to blow,
Her tender heart declared a
Wish to witness winter’s snow.
Bright
Saffron
Streams
Of sunlight
Pooled upon her
Twisted boughs, delivering
A smile to replace her solemn frown.
The
Copper
Meadows
Frolicked in a gust
Blown from the West
As sluggish creatures stole
Into their burrows and their nests.
The
Bitter
Storms
Of autumn swept
Away her lavish jewels,
Revealing ghostly skeletons
That rose beneath the moon.
An
Early
Twilight
Melted into pools
Of starlit streams;
She softly whispered to the sun,
“Goodbye, my love, sweet dreams”.
