The Dance of Midsummer

The Dance of Midsummer

Come, dance, my child, the day is young;
Greeteth the moon, the stars and sun.
Lay bare thy feet upon the ground;
Don merry bells and floral crowns.

Set loose your songs of emerald green,
Of crimson skies and sapphire seas,
Of meadows ripe and rivers vast,
Of fables woven of the past.

Rise up, rise up from whence ye be;
The prancing embers beckon thee.
Set tresses wild and spirits high;
The sun commands thy soul to fly.

As maidens dance with hands a-wed;
Lift up thy cup above thy head.
The longest day shalt mark a feast
Of what hath passed and what may be.

With rolling drums and crowing men,
All hail the sun! Our Providence.
May troubles melteth to the breeze
And be replaced with jollity.

Praise be ye lore of better days;
Praise be the Earth, her fruits and grain.
Praise be the moon, the stars and sun.
May summer blesseth everyone!

Turbulence🥀

Turbulence🥀

Sweet quietude, unburden me
And steal my aching bones away
To pastures far from mankind’s din
Where nature’s music ever plays

My world! My world is altering!
My soul no longer settles here
Where is the hush of better days
The gracefulness of yesteryear?

Sweet solitude and sylvan bliss
Withdraw the seed of my unrest
And bind my heart to wilder things
That shelter me from turbulence

My feet shall never threaten thee
Nor stain thy blessed wilderness
For in your hearth, all that I am
Is owed to you, and I am blest

O fleeting birds and opulence
Come hither, sing your melodies
And cradle me within your arms
When sorrow brings me to my knees

With heavy heart, I’ll rise again
To brave the tides of turbulence
For knowing you are there for me
Will ever be my recompense

Drawing Breath

Drawing Breath

Follow the roads
that enlighten your soul
that inspire your heart
to put life before gold

believe in yourself
chase your dreams
never strive to appease
those who breed
misery
or demise

attempt to unfurl
to unravel your soul
from the tiniest acorns
great oak trees are born

with courage
you’ll reap all the seeds
you have sown
peel yourself from the shadows
and let your roots grow

from cradle to grave
may you never forswear
your own faith
your convictions
your hopes and your prayers

live hard and live fast
make your peace with the past
raise your eyes to the skies
and sustain your wild heart

every day
on the earth
place your hands in the dirt
walk each mile with a smile
and remember your worth

dear child
trust your instincts!
your gut is your pilot
let no pointed finger
condemn you to silence

hold on to your essence
embrace your reflection
stand up and stamp out
false ideas of perfection

give time to your brood
feel the beauty of living
for life truly flies
every day is a blessing

ride life’s roller coaster
with grace and devotion
with limited time
live each day like a poem

if life comes undone
cast your eyes to the stars
hear the voice
deep inside you
that calls you to rise

grow older
grow wiser
be bolder
be wilder

dear beautiful soul
set your spirit on fire

Yesteryear

Yesteryear

DmIrcPluVsA~Yesteryear~

once upon a golden time…

we suffered
not without a fight
we stood
for what we felt was right
and fought
against relentless tides

we saw our faults
with open eyes
we searched the stars
for far-off life

we strived to keep our human rights
and rescued nations from demise

we waged a war against starvation
ousting fascists of damnation
oil was not a stipulation
used against our liberation

children did not want for more
tabloids did not favour war

we drafted laws
and proclamations
to support
not starve the poor

we mastered science
cured diseases
revered life throughout the seasons

read the verses of dead poets
and aspired to grasp
their meanings

life was lived with little debt
giving alms with no regret

we spoke for those
who could not speak
unsheltered by the internet

we welcomed knowledge
not disdain
we revered champions
not the vain

we fed our families
love and virtue…

values lost to video games

we nurtured plots
with stainless seeds
without prosperity or greed

we passed on wisdom of the ages
through the roots of ancestry

we recognised our strengths
our weakness
prized divergence
praised uniqueness

loved the land we stood upon
hands on hearts
we rallied on

we fought for one
and won for all

we valued age
from young to old

we did not want
or crave the fortunes
of a banker’s filthy gold

we stood in solidarity
in times of deep austerity
we helped our neighbours
readily

and did not scare so easily

we listened well
admitting failure
taught good manners
and behaviour

ate our greens
and valued Nature

life back then was never greater

Heart

Heart

dear heart
try not to pull yourself apart
though often
life seems very hard

your time is fleeting…

go, watch the birds of dawn
arise
beneath
those splendid summer skies
wipe off the tears
that you have cried
and keep on breathing

and please

believe me when I say
whatever life
throws in your way
your soul can navigate
the waves

you must keep beating

and in your darkest times ahead
when sorrow
infiltrates your head
when all you know
are tears you’ve wept

please, keep on dreaming

and if you’re ever feeling down
know that the sun
will come around
your strength
can turn this ship about

never stop seeking

cast up your eyes
towards the skies
the stars are strung
upon the night
and when a shooting star arrives

don’t stop believing

pursue the time
that lies ahead
for when you’re gone
you’re ever dead
your life’s a gamble
PLACE YOUR BET!

embrace your being

lift up your chin
and search your smile
my child
your soul longs to be wild
to spread its wings
to soar
to thrive

dear heart, stop weeping

for life is fleeting…
