Drawing Breath

Drawing Breath

Follow the roads
that enlighten your soul
that inspire your heart
to put life before gold

believe in yourself
chase your dreams
never strive to appease
those who breed
misery
or demise

attempt to unfurl
to unravel your soul
from the tiniest acorns
great oak trees are born

with courage
you’ll reap all the seeds
you have sown
peel yourself from the shadows
and let your roots grow

from cradle to grave
may you never forswear
your own faith
your convictions
your hopes and your prayers

live hard and live fast
make your peace with the past
raise your eyes to the skies
and sustain your wild heart

every day
on the earth
place your hands in the dirt
walk each mile with a smile
and remember your worth

dear child
trust your instincts!
your gut is your pilot
let no pointed finger
condemn you to silence

hold on to your essence
embrace your reflection
stand up and stamp out
false ideas of perfection

give time to your brood
feel the beauty of living
for life truly flies
every day is a blessing

ride life’s roller coaster
with grace and devotion
with limited time
live each day like a poem

if life comes undone
cast your eyes to the stars
hear the voice
deep inside you
that calls you to rise

grow older
grow wiser
be bolder
be wilder

dear beautiful soul
set your spirit on fire

~Nature Runneth Through My Veins~

Earth, my body and my blood
Dust below me; skies above
Bones bound by an endless love
Crafted of the universe

Sallow moons and starlit skies
Springtime blooms and warm Julys
Twilight’s tender lullabies
Marvels born before my eyes

Source of breath and parting tears
Ancient stones and noble deer
Essence of my living years
Blessed Earth, my hallowed sphere

Timeworn tales and solstice flames
Rugged paths and rich terrain
Boundless seas and gentle rains
Nature runneth through my veins

Sonnet of Summer

Sonnet of Summer

~Sonnet of Summer~

Come, sweet scent of summer love
And fill me to the brim with warmth
Strip away my melancholy
As the earth is now reborn

Chase away my emptiness
Of winter blues and autumn greys
Send your chorus through the meadows
Saturate my hollow days

With thy emerald pearls of wisdom
Whisper to the earth your songs
Banish every ounce of darkness
Grow my days from short to long

Clouds so white they look like feathers
Fields so green they mesmerise
As the child of Imbolc wanders
Beltane’s king and queen arrive

Set alight the fires of May Day
Bang the drums and fill the skies
Drench the year with celebration
Let no tears adorn thine eyes

Strip our souls of painful sorrows
Fill our hearts with happiness
As the earth is full of living
Make this year our very best
